ADHD Assessments

What are ADHD Assessments?
ADHD Assessments are designed to investigate and diagnose Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder in clients. These assessments are critical in distinguishing ADHD from other conditions with similar symptoms, such as anxiety or mood disorders. We offer ADHD assessments to adults that involve clinical interviews and standardized in-person testing.
How ADHD Assessments Work
- Initial Consultation: The process begins with a diagnostic interview to gather relevant background information, a history of the presenting problems, and details about the client’s symptoms and functioning.
- Standardized Testing: A range of standardized tests and measures are used to assess symptoms and overall cognitive functioning. These tests and measures may include in-person computer-based assessments and paper-and-pencil tests.
- Collaborative Input: Input might come from partners, close friends, or workplace colleagues to gain a full picture of the individual’s functioning in different settings.
- Report and Feedback: A detailed report that includes diagnostic information, treatment recommendations, and academic or workplace accommodations and strategies is provided. This report is discussed in a feedback session where the individual can ask questions to ensure they understand their functioning.

Benefits of ADHD Assessments
- Accurate Diagnosis: These assessments provide clarity on whether the individual meets the criteria for ADHD and/or other disorders.
- Tailored Treatment Recommendations: Based on the assessment findings, a specific and individualized treatment plan, including medication, therapy for ADHD, and lifestyle changes, is recommended.
- Support for Educational and Workplace Accommodations: A formal diagnosis can assist in obtaining necessary support and accommodations to improve functioning in academic or workplace settings.
